![]() ![]() Vehicle Access to Your Property if You Have a Disability If your business is in the road closure area but outside the work limits, speak to the site operatives who will assist with essential access and deliveries. ![]() We would ask you to make alternative arrangements. Businesses should encourage staff and customers to park nearby and use pedestrian access. If your business is inside the work limits, we can't guarantee vehicular access during our work hours. When a road needs to be closed, we will make every effort to ensure that properties directly next to the work being carried out still have access. Unfortunately, inconvenience can't be completely avoided, but we aim to keep this to an absolute minimum. Where possible, we send out letters in advance of any work we will be carrying out and we also ask utility companies to do the same. However, if we need to make changes to the schedule at short notice, we are sometimes unable to do this in time. When a road needs to be closed, advance notice signs will be placed on site several days before the work is due to start. We understand road closures are inconvenient, but they are required to ensure that works can take place efficiently and safely. Some roadworks cannot be undertaken safely whilst the road is open to traffic, which means they need a temporary road closure. The Council has a duty to co-ordinate all roadworks on its network to ensure that disruption to road users is kept to a minimum, while providing a safe environment for those undertaking the work. Roadworks may be undertaken by the Council's own contractors, for example to complete road maintenance, or by external organisations such as utility companies, who need to access pipes or cables buried in the road. In addition to the above changed traffic conditions, to allow for the final asphalt resurfacing of Grevillea Street, Grevillea Street at the Boundary Road intersection will be fully closed for a period of approximately five (5) days during the June/July school holidays. The map below shows all current and planned roadworks in West Berkshire. Please note that once the works in Boundary Road between Denmans Camp Road and Maree Street have been completed, Boundary Road will be re-opened to two-way traffic. ![]() Further details in relation to the timing of the reopening of this section of Boundary Road will be provided once timing is more certain.
